About Me
I am a member and recorded minister of Freedom Friends Church, in Salem, OR.
I am a former editor of QUAKER RELIGIOUS THOUGHT and former chairman of the board of the Center for Christian Studies of Reedwood Friends Church in Portland, OR.

My present ministry concern is that I am writing a book, titled "Friends, God, and the Bible". A major thesis of the book is that the central thrust of early Quakerism was that they read the Bible empathetically. Their testimonies, beliefs, and way of life were fruits of this empathetic reading of the Bible.

To T. Vail:

I read your essay on Friends and the Bible in Quaker Religious Thought, and found it enlightening.

To Noah Vail:

Groan!!!

Would you consider releasing chapters of this book in serial form?  Perhaps as essays in journals, or something like that.

Still waiting for this masterpiece in the making!

In 2011, he wrote: "My book is still moving slowly -- I am about up to 1895 at this point.  Maybe another year or two before I finish!   Vail Palmer"

When will the book appear?

Martin - That sounds like Vail's writing. Any chance I could get a copy of this still?

Hi Vail: I'm cleaning out some old files in my new Friends Journal office and came across a copy of The Friend from 8th Month 5, 1954. It somehow opened up to page 38, which is an article by T Vail Palmer called "Which Way Peace?" Very cool! Is this you or is this the senior to whom you're the junior?

I am featured in today (Jan. 13) Albany Democrat-Herald, as having been present at 1963 March on Washington and having heard MLK's I have a dream speech.  Text of article can be accessed through Freedom Friends Church facebook page.
