Personal experience is, really, all I have.
While speaking of my own experience, I sometimes begin an observation with a blanket statement that is more than just imprecise. Depending upon the medium and the audience, it could be unhelpful. I pray that I remain mindful that my words be seasoned with salt, that they be spoken clearly, and be acceptable in the sight of the Lord.

Nothing earth-shattering, here.
This morning, this sun-bright, half-foot-of-snow covered morning, I was blessed. Again.
I had machine-washed a load of towels and wanted to hang them out to dry. It looked like a perfect morning to do so, the sky so blue, a gentle breeze, and predictions that it would warm up to freezing. Ahh, relative warmth!

Well, no, you didn't say so. I simply tried to read between the lines, since you didn't mention the conservative gathering specifically, whereas you did mention Quaker Spring and OYM (which I attended and loved so well). I'm sorry to misconstrue. I should have just asked for clarity. Please forgive me.
I assume that the conservative gathering is not a good idea, then?
A fFriend who cannot go to the FGC gathering was thrilled when I told her about Quaker Spring. I believe she will go to that; she and her son were with me at OYM sessions last August. Seth Hinshaw and Thomas Swain engaged her little one in a game of "soccer" in the gym. So sweet. :)
Raye, I live in Columbus and have been to OYM annual sessions. They are wonderful and deep. My yearly meeting (Lake Erie) has since asked me if I would be willing to serve as a Friendly Observer from our LEYM to OYM, and I am grateful to be of service this way.
What I would like to know: Would I be out of place if I were to attend your gathering? How about Quaker Spring? I would not be attending as an emissary from my meeting but as an individual Friend wishing to worship with my more Conservative cousins.
I wish to raise OYM's profile in our FGC meeting, as I hear Friends showing interest in worshipping with you. If you believe they would be welcome at the gathering and/or Quaker Spring, I would like to publicize the events among local Friends.

I've discovered that a half-winsor knot like I had to do with my school tie is the answer to getting the scarf to tie well at the nape of the neck - and because it slips it can be adjusted to fit the head snugly. Then after that I use a couple of hair slides to secure it just behind the ears.
It works with either a triangle (square half folded) or a long thin scarf.
Wore it at Area Meeting today...no comments!
