What about us 2nd/3rds? Us forty or fifty somethings?

Is there a place for us in the religious society of friends for late converts? Those who are too old for young adult friends but too young for aging concerns? Those of us 45 to 60 . . . do we also have something to contribute to the spiritual health of our community? Albiet, late commers, nay late bloomers, that we are? What is our role in our society?

Dear Lola,

I came to Friends in my early 30s. There was no "YAF" community. I didn't feel a lack. Friends Meeting can enrich you regardless of the makeup of the community.

I'm not sure what you are asking about your role in society, since that is something that will be revealed to you as you wait patiently for God. Perhaps you are looking for a mentor/elder? That certainly helps!

Yours in the Light, Paula

In my experience if you show a willingness to get involved your meeting will put you to work.  And in the process of doing so will discover your gifts.
