Comment by David McKay on 10th mo. 24, 2017 at 6:31am: What strikes me about this list is that despite John being owned as the "Quaker Gospel" he gets cited only 3 times and all three are in the Prologue. I also don't see James, the book of the Bible that to me seems closest in spirit to the folkways of Quakers. The guy who shows up most on the list would seem to be Paul.

Comment by John J Edminster on 10th mo. 24, 2017 at 10:02pm: I'm currently involved in updating and trying to publicize the Quaker Bible Index, and therefore I'm deeply interested in this study, which I just discovered. Friend David, how did you determine the relative frequency of citations in the QBI? -- are these citations from early Friends before 1700, or does it include later Friends included in the QBI like Samuel Bownas and Job Scott? -- and do you have a theory about how a certain book or pericope (like from John or James) could be very important to early Friends, but not be actually cited that often in their writings?

Which is annoying. But sorry. I don't know the provenance. But I am not the source.
