Good Friends:

In my ongoing search for Quietist Quaker works the name of Hugh Turford has come up.  He seems to have been an advocate of silence, in a pure sense, and an articulate spokesman for a Quietist view.  At least that's how he's quoted in the hisotrical essays I've found.  I haven't had a chance to read any of writings, though I plan on ordering them soon.

I haven't been able to find out much biographical information about Turford.  Does anyone here know where he lived and preached?  Also, what was his influence on the Quaker community?  I had never heard of him until very recently, he's not a name that comes up with a first search or a general overview of Quaker history.  Any assistance will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jim

There appears to be biographical information, though you'd have to subscribe.
