Parenting children in a quakerly way is a particular and very intimate challenge to our faithfulness and witness. How do we convey the testimonies of truth/integrity, peace/nonviolence, equality/justice, community/inclusivity, simplicity/plainness, to our children. Is our example in family life and neighborhood the first way? When can we raise the horror stories of violence, injustice, corruption etc? I just went to a family gathering where JYFs thought about chocolate in the context of Easter and fair trade. And the little ones loved an Easter egg hunt! We heard about the last supper and plain meals.
