What's something you have created in response to the Light within?

Chapter 8 of Minding the Light: Our Collective Journal is now available online and also attached in a PDF file below.  For this chapter, we invited Friends to respond to the query, "What’s something you have created in response to the Light within?” For this chapter, we received 10 responses – some stories, some images, and one cartoon strip!   The main image on our website for this chapter is of a beautiful stained glass piece created by a woman in our meeting.

Minding the Light is a bimonthly publication of West Hills Friends, a Quaker meeting in Portland, Oregon.  Using the guidelines of "worship sharing," we invite members and attenders to reflect on a specific query for each chapter.  Earlier queries have been:  When did you first recognize the Light? When has your longing for God's Presence been unfulfilled? When have you experienced God’s presence in nature? When have you experienced God’s presence through a stranger? When has God made you laugh? What experience comes to mind when you hear the phrase, “Sacred Space”?  When has following the Light led you to a change of heart, despite initial resistance?

We invite you to read these stories for yourself.  We would love to hear your response.  There is a link to the website, where all of the chapters are available, and a link below to Chapter 8 of Minding the Light in PDF format.

Blessings!

"Minding the Light" led my wife, Judy, to be a leader in establishing a Friends School that ended up at West Hills. However, There seemed to be a diminishment of the Light evident in or to others and the school ended there.

Hi Tom,

I remember the Friends School but don't know much about it.  They rented West Hills' community building, but otherwise weren't connected to West Hills.

I'm sorry that the Light for that undertaking seemed to diminish after a time.

Blessings,

Sally
