Primitive Christianity Revived, Again
Less politeness.
Less hostility.
Less defensiveness.
Less reverence for everyone's poor silly gospels.
More attention to what that other silly fool actually means.
More faith in the One who leads us.
More sense of proportion.
More time than I have to waste, lately.
If I've recently failed to hold up my end in Friendly games of Mudinyourface, it may be because I'd much rather have it in someone else's face-- or maybe that really never was the object. Not even my object. Not even when it's been fun.
Do what you like here. Your daughter won't pick up her mores from me. Or from you.
Bradley Manning is in prison. The President, the Supreme Court, and Congress are running around loose. I've promised, a couple of times, to "defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies, foreign or domestic." But sometimes what one intends just doesn't turn out realistic.
Methane is boiling out of the water, from the Siberian coastal shelf. There's rough weather coming, and it won't be "the teachings of human beings" that gets us through that.
One sometimes needs to risk being rude, wrong, and nuts-- certainly to risk that appearance-- to know and say what needs said. None of these things suffice in themselves, I'll agree.
Too much agreement; a forum becomes ingrown & stagnant. People run out of things to say to each other. Too much divergence, on anything that people identify with, and there's likely to be hostility, people too caught up in stratagems, too little in learning from each other.
& with lack of time, one misses things. I've evidently pushed too many people's buttons for too long; and become as tired of that as they are. Do we need anybody pointing out whatever afflictions we've become too proud of? If so, it's too delicate a job for me.
Is it peace?
