The wind from the future rages, and lives deeply anchored in the Christian faith may be shaken but will not be uprooted.

Thanks, Bill. I share your confidence in that which grounds us: our Christian faith.

Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.

And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.

Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:

For our God is a consuming fire.

(Heb. 12:26b-29)

Naomi Klein has an article on Nauru, once the richest country on earth.  The islanders didn't take care of their future.  They put money aside but they received horrible financial advice.

They all ate processed food because they could afford it.  Now half of the island's residents have diabetes.  Nobody lives long.

Their entire island, covered with millions of years of seabird guano, now has been mined out.  The money and the island's ecology are gone now.  Fresh water is a problem.

The Australian government uses the island as a terrible detention camp for unsuccessful boat people.

The story of the future is going to be our story, for good or for bad.  Either our descendents have rights in 2015, even though they aren't born yet, or else some of their basic rights will be gone by the time that they are born.  Profits.

Friends who are careful to represent the views of missing members at business meetings should be scrupulous to represent the views of "the future".
