Primitive Christianity Revived, Again
Greetings, Friends!
Chapter 3 of Minding the Light: Our Collective Journal is now available online. For this chapter, we invited Friends to respond to the query, "How have you experienced God's presence in nature?" We received sixteen personal stories and some gorgeous original photographs.
Minding the Light is published bimonthly by West Hills Friends, a Quaker meeting in Portland, Oregon. Using the guidelines of "worship sharing," we invite members and attenders to reflect on a specific query for each chapter. The query for Chapter 1 was "When did you first recognize the Light?” The query for Chapter 2 was "When has your longing for God's Presence been unfulfilled.”
We see great value in telling our stories to one another. Whenever someone encounters the Light, the story of that encounter becomes a priceless gift to everyone who receives it. Our stories affirm the Quaker testimony that God is present in the world and can be known experimentally. By sharing these stories with one another, we hope to deepen our insight into God's presence and our understanding of what it means to be human.
We invite you to read these stories for yourself. We would love to hear your response. There is a link to the website below, and a copy of Chapter 3 in PDF format. Chapters 1 and 2 available on our website in PDF format.
Blessings!
