Can "God" substitute for "Spirit"? A companion post to "Do God and Spirit equate?"

In an earlier Red Electric post I replaced "God" in some well known "God" quotations with the word "Spirit" to see how the exercise might illiminate the meanings of the words and their relationship to each other.

In my most recent post, I've done the opposite, replacing "Spirit" in various references to "Spirit" with the word "God."

To see the results, go…

Do "God" and "Spirit" equate?

I've posed this question on my Red Electric site. I invite Quaker Quaker Friends to respond.

An Ocean of Ink

Quakers made the front page of the New York Times last Friday.

Was the story about the Religious Society of Friends' on-going struggle for peace?

Was it about the effectiveness of the Quaker lobbying group, the Friends Committee on National Legislation?

Was it about the fact that there are far more…

Amazed by Grace

Grace...sound freed of meaning, stills and soothes.

“Amazing Grace. How sweet the sound!”

Grace...gentle, loving forgiveness.

“And Grace, my fears relieved.”

The Christmas Zombie

The family gathered on Christmas Eve. Those in their 30s talked of

The Silent Gateway

I've just posted some thoughts about the ways we "hear" in the silence. They can be found on my blog, The Red Electric. http://www.theredelectric.blogspot.com.

We are that we are

I've posted on my blog a short piece that should be of interest to the Quaker Quaker community. It's about an exercise that a diverse group of friends did at a workshop conducted by Marge Abbot, of our Multnomah Monthly Meeting and Peggy Parsons of Freedom Friends. You can read it at theredelectric.blogspot.com.

My little essay begins with God's describing himself to Moses thus: "I am that I am."
