About Me
Well folks… in many ways I’m back, and in others I’m just joining this community. I’ve been out of the Quaker world of involvement for a while now, and at the turn of the new year 2010, I moved back to Richmond, Indiana to begin a Masters of Arts in Religious Studies at Earlham School of Religion.

Question from the non-quaker world (aka my cousin!)

nyway, quick question- in Quaker commentary/tradition/etc- is there a
system for understanding embodied perception- I know the feeling of
"message" I think, but my sense of it is
unrefined...I'm wondering if the tradition has explored nuances of
bodily feelings and how they connect to thought/emotion and ultimately
discernment? Any thoughts? I came across this article about these topics.

Hi Rachel: great to see you here. And thanks for sharing your story in the Prodigal Daughter post. At any given time there's aways a few young Friends who are asked to do everything & be everywhere. It's a lot of pressure and it's hard not to get swept away. I always say a prayer for Friends I see heading that direction. Glad to see you got loose and are peeking your way back in. Welcome to QQ!

Friend Eleanor, Yes you are very correct as it is Modesto. If one travels about 45 minutes south near Atwater, Merced there are another group which actually might be Mennonite as opposed to Dunkard. Their dress seems somewhat more rigid. In that I…

I think it also has to do mainly with interpretation. Scripture is often interpretated by ones heart -- this can lead to all kinds of interesting paths, some scary ones as well. It is not scripture that is the problem but, what is really in ones min…

Friend Eleanor, How exciting to hear you were raised Conservative Mennonite. I live in the Bay Area now in California but in my home area in California, which is about 70 miles east of here there are many Dunkards or I guess the correct name is Dunk…
