I was raised Roman Catholic, became interested in Quakerism years ago, but "left". My leanings were "conservative", all area meetings were liberal, and I tired of getting odd looks if I spoke of Jesus or Scripture. Our meeting had a couple of members who didn't know who George Fox was, the focus was almost entirely on social concern, and belief in "God" was optional. Aside from the form of worship, I might as well have been a Unitarian!:) Good people they were, but I felt little connection as a Friend.I embraced Quakerism because of the personal testimony of the first Quakers, and because I believe that Jesus led me to it. I have "returned", and hope to find a "home" that eluded me before.
