Music and the Arts

Historically Friends worried that music and the arts could serve as spiritual distractions but today many are involved in the arts. Share you work, along with your views of the role of the arts in contemporary Quaker culture. Tag: arts.

It seems I can't keep up :)

I have the attention span of a gnat, am easily befuddled and often get lost on the net.  I thought I had a blog that could be seen by anyone but it's on another site.  Go figure. This is where my blog is  Be aware there isn't much there yet. That said, I'm reluctant to start a Qu blog because I'm likely not a Quaker, I don't know.  I was led to look into Quaker traditions.  That's what I'm doing. See More

MerryAntics commented on Cathy Barney's blog post 'When the hatches aren't battened'

Profile Information

About Me
I am a perpetual searcher. An acquaintance suggested I look into Quakers ~ Friends to see whether or not I might find a good fit with my spiritual beliefs.

As one who was raised without religious teachings or indoctrinated by religious dogma my wanderings have taken me through a vast spectrum of belief in a Supreme Creator. Thus I am left with a few things which I can unequivocally affirm.

I believe that all life comes from a Creative Force (which I refer to as God) and is beyond human comprehension.

As a sentient creature of God I am compelled to be thankful for the life that I am given and to share my appreciation with all other life forms whether human, animal, or plant.

I believe God calls us on His own time for His purposes.

I believe I am called to listen quietly.

If I believe that God is omnipotent and omniscient (and I do) I have no need to think anything other than: "You know my heart. My task from then on is to simply listen."
