Ha!  Back on the East Coast is it?  Look at me, a day late and a dollar short.  I hope that your travels were interesting and productive, especially since you were so far west you were in the east.  I look forward to hearing about your experiences in Korea.

My experience of Hanover Meeting is that it is a wonderful inclusive meeting.  It's pretty liberal, but there may be some conservative leaning folk there.  My friend, Fran Brokow  is a member and would know and she'd be happy to point you in the right direction, as I'm sure others would be too.  Feel comfortable to introduce yourself to her and send her my greetings. Of course it would be wonderful to worship with you again in Plainfield too.

I don't know of a Vermont group of conservative Friends, but perhaps we can search one out.  I can put an announcement in the next issue of the Nor'wester for example and see if there is some interest.

Another event that you may find interesting is on Saturday October 1st at the Burlington Meeting.  Brian Drayton is leading an exploration of Friends interested in Gospel Ministry and it seems like that might be a place where one might cross paths with some Conservative minded folk.  If you're free and inclined.

I hear good things about Vermont Tech, I'm sure you're looking forward to it.

More soon.

Blessings,

Carl

Dear Meg

I was raised on dairy farms in England, went to Ag college and later made a living milking cows before emigrating to Canada where I have owned ranches in Manitoba and BC. So we have conservative Friends, sheep and dairying in common! I am an Isolated Friend and so rarly get to Meeting due to my occupation and distance (2hours) from Vernon Monthly Meeting. I have always wanted to farm and announced this at the age of 3! I have always felt closest to the Light when working outside with livestock and caring for the land, improving its fertility and carrying capacity by using tried and true old fashioned organic methods. Having felt called to do this I have gained enough experiance that I now teach farm mangement and livestock husbandry with workshops at our farm and through classes at our local College. It seems a strange way to live out your faith, doing what you like doing with no great sacrifice.  But I feel buy teaching others to farm in balance with the Gods creation in a sustainable maner I feel I am helping in my own way and answering the calling that was placed in me by the Light. I never discuss my faith unless asked and hope my example will open way for them to ask. I trust this has helped answer your question.   Rob
