Last night my honey and I attended the 50th anniversary Fancy-Schmancy Dinner of his workplace. The women in his department had been dithering for days on end about what they would wear, how they would find time to get a professional manicure for the occasion, etc. The men too were in a tizzy about dressing "right" for the occasion. This not being Halloween we opted to go as ourselves, he in a homespun homemade shirt and black twill pants, me in a homemade homespun dress. We gave our nod to…

I just read what you wrote on the "Buddhism & Quaker" discussion and it made me smile. I agree with what you wrote about Buddhism--I've studied it for so long but (as it was with Christianity) there were creeds and ideas I didn't agree with so I couldn't call myself a Buddhist (or Christian).
"The original teachings are so beautiful to me, but the added on and re-interpreted bits put me off.
Happily God, (whatever God is and I'm not bright enough to know) is quite capable of instructing me as needed, when I'm willing to hush up and listen. We don't need a middle-man."
That was simply brilliant. The part about God described exactly what I have been feeling and unable to express. Thank you for writing it.
