Hi Karen!

I enjoyed talking to you, too! I made my reservations online for the sixth month meeting. Are you still planning to attend?

I don't know what I was thinking signing up for masters classes! I am so stretched to my limits. But I am NOT going to quit!

I went out to a friend's farm last weekend and came back with three beautiful fleeces to wash and spin. Yay!

I hope you have a great week and I'll give you a call as soon as I can catch my breath!

Blessings!

Marcie

Hello! Thank you for adding me! I do indeed attend a Michigan meeting, the Pine River Friends in Mount Pleasant. It's just General Unprogrammed. I'm a newish Quaker, so I hope you find the resources on this website as helpful as I have.

Hi again,

Laura is my onliest daughter. (That's Kuntry southern!)    :-)  And boy is she a pistol. She is a very strong willed child and manages to get almost everything she wants or tries to do. She'll be 18 on April 15th and graduates high school this year.

Thank you very much for the youth compliment! Actually, I'm 44 and I have a bit of salt and pepper hair now- more pepper than salt still. I dyed it for a very long time, but one of the guys at work told me that God gives us that gray to show our wisdom and that we should show it off, so I let it grow out. I think that was one of my first steps to going plain.

It's really good that you and your daughter are so close and protective. Laura and I aren't as close as I would like. The world really has her in its grip right now.

It's a shame, too, that so many men don't know how to be fathers any more. Laura's dad drinks, and smokes things he shouldn't. He rarely has contact with Laura, and I think because of that, she has built a wall around herself. Her friends see the fun and crazy side of her, but I mostly get the indifferent or hostile side. I sure hope she grows out of it!

Yes, I love my knitting buddies! I didn't get to see them again tonight. Boo hoo! I miss them. I just started knitting about a year ago and I'm not very good, although I've been crocheting for many years. Your shawl sounds wonderful! The only things I've truly finished are a wash cloth and a back scrubber! Oh! and a hat for my stepdad. Sad, isn't it? Oh well, the company is worth a million dollars and  I've almost got a sweater finished for my mom. I have a gray sweater that I have started for myself as well in crochet. I'm still working on the pair of socks I started over 6 months ago! Ha ha!

You know, You can call me anytime. I'm kind of a space cadet when things get crazy and I don't think about calling people or doing things I need to do until it's 10 or 11 at night and my mind starts calming down. I kind of hermit on the weekends, too. I think my life is just too crazy for me.

Let's start a plain Quaker commune!!! I saw on a website that there are now plain Catholics and they are starting their own communities too! I think that would be wonderful.

Well, I hope you are doing well and I'm very sorry that I've been so out of touch. I hope I hear from you soon.

Peace and blessings to you as well, Karen!

Marcie

Hi again Karen,

Are you going to bring your children? If so, I'll ask Laura if she would go with me.

My work has been pretty good to me throughout this transition. However, I'm still dressing modern plain at work and wearing a black or solid colored bandana over my hair. I'm not sure how they'd react if I wore my quakerly clothes. I think it might be too much since I am supposed to be representing a Catholic university.

I do think I'd like to camp. I think I still have two tents, too.

Your clothes sound great! I haven't made any kercheifs yet. I'm still trying to get the dress right. I don't want to look like the amish, but I don't want to wear only black and grey like Quaker Anne, either. I like color!

I do wear flipflops and sandals. Jesus wore sandals so I think he wouldn't mind if I do too.  :-)

......" If you're hot, you're hot!....if you're not, you're not!"   :-)

You know, I'm not sure how far it is from here to Barnesville, OH....Please hold.....Ooooooh! It's 425 miles, which is 7hrs and 41 minutes, AKA 10 hours Marcie driving time. Ha ha!

Hey, call me anytime if you'd like to my cell# is 270-485-9033. If you have a land line, I can call you back because long distance is free for me.

I'm going to go sew a while before I go hang out with my knitting buddies.

Have a great evening!

Peace!

Marcie

Hi Karen,

No, that's great! I love having someone to talk to!

My daughter is 17 -will be 18 in April and wouldn't be caught dead at this event. She thinks I'm weird, but hasn't said one negative word to me about it except that she turned towards me in the car one morning and asked me if I wasn't wearing makeup anymore? I said no and when she asked why, I told her because I'm beautiful without it. I guess that worked for her.

That's a great set up you have with your van! .... I want one! ha ha!

Hello there, Karen!

I'm very glad that I could help in some small way. I think God takes the bad things that we go through and turns them into potentially good things - maybe I can empathize and help others.

I finished that first blue dress and then decided that it needed a cape, then I decided that it was too large and now I'm trying to alter it. I also bought some plain fabric in different colors that I think I'm going to send to a seamstress to make for me. I find that I just don't have time to sew it all while taking online master's classes.

Yes, indeedy, I am planning to go to the Conservative meeting in June. I was thinking about staying in a dorm, but I think I'd rather camp. Do you camp? ...would you camp next to me?... it would have electric outlets if we needed it and we could make a campfire and hang out.  (I love camp fires!!) :-)

Talk to you soon!

Marcie
