Jan Lyn's Introduction

I am a child of God and consider myself to be a Quaker in Spirit. Due to chronic illness, I do not get out to Meeting in my Philadelphia area often, but when I do, I visit Buckingham Meeting.  I am one of the initial Founders of Quaker Faith and Fellowship online, which has provided me the opportunity to connect with all branches of Friends and has afforded me the ability to Worship online.  I join in here joyfully to engage with other Friends, discuss possible ways to add Friendly ways to our family and home education, as well as learn more about the Convergent Friends movement. I am a Christian Friend with a concern to meld and promote love of the branches of Friends together. I am currently enjoying attending school for Spiritual Formation and Direction.

The Knowing Place

Posted on 5th mo. 23, 2010 at 9:10pm 5 Comments

It all began far back on a hill in a field about an acre from my first childhood home. Back then, it was an enchanted place for us kids and we called it 'Indian Hill', which would not be socially acceptable today. Back then life was simpler. I didn’t know it at the time, but I believe this special place to be the birthing of My Knowing Place.

I had to walk an acre or so and cross a crystal clear, bubbling brook. It was worth the walk in my creek sneakers, as mother…

Friends That Thirst

Posted on 11th mo. 30, 2009 at 4:44pm 2 Comments

Many people of faith speak about dry or dark times. Even Mother Theresa was found to refer to what was called the "dark night of the soul." I often wonder about these times as Friends where there seems no vocal ministry to be found, no leadings and difficulty discerning abounds. They are the times where we find ourselves waiting and hoping to hear any voice from God.

About three years ago or so now, I found myself desperately seeking any potential sparks of light. I’ve come to… Continue

Dear friend Jan,

I am glad to have you for my friend! Do you like cats? What are your ffavourite hobbies? I enjoy reading and writing fiction and poems as time permits. I also like playing hymns and classical music on the piano. Please forgive me for taking so long to write back. I stay very busy but want to reply as much as I can!!!!

Hello, Jan!

Thank thee for accepting my invitation. I greatly appreciate that. I have been away from this site for nearly a quarter year with last month being about the worst. I went through nearly three months of insomnia, dark despondency, and pain from oral surgery (the last three wisdom teeth cut out)!! So, when I returned, I brought with me, my small family of thr3e! :) Thank thee for thy encouraging thoughts and sayings. I hope to get to know thee better in the coming days, Lord Willing, of course. Thank thee again.

Blessings and peace to thee in the Light of Christ,

~Timothy~

Jan;
I read MT prayed to share Christ's suffering as on the cross. She was bereft of the presence of God for most of her life as Christ was in his agony. She operated soley on faith. Amazing woman.

Thanks for accepting, Jan Lyn. Yes, I noticed that we have a lot in common. I just started reading your blog, too, and getting a lot from it. Sorry to hear about the pain you have to endure. It must make it very difficult to homeschool. I already find homeschooling very challenging!
Many blessings,
Rosemary
