Music and the Arts

Historically Friends worried that music and the arts could serve as spiritual distractions but today many are involved in the arts. Share you work, along with your views of the role of the arts in contemporary Quaker culture. Tag: arts.

Profile Information

About Me
Originally a Wlburite Quaker from the Villa Street Meeting in Pasadena, California (at one time known as Hickory Grove Monthly Meeting - Iowa Conservative), then a 24 year lapse, next joining the Flagstaff, Arizona Monthly Meeting, I have recently transferred to the Third Haven Monthly Meeting, Easton, Maryland along with my wife, Kyung-Lim Lee, also a member. She works in painting and drawing and I in light. We run a large cattle ranch in Northern Arizona and have recently purchased a home in Oxford, Maryland to be nearer to my wife's family.

Dear James,

Welcome to Quaker Quaker!

I am an English Friend and know your work well. I have climbed Cat Cairn in the Kielder Forest to visit the Sky Space there. It was a beautiful day with the cloud formations near perfect. I have also visited the Deer Shelter at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, not such a bright day but a really powerful experience.

It is good to see you here.

Hi James: great to see you here. I'm sure Friends here would be interested in what drew you back after the lapse. You might be interested in the "Music and the Arts" group here on QuakerQuaker.
