The Glory of the Lord – An Image of God?

Moses and Aaron then went into the Tent of Meeting. When they came out, they blessed the people; and the glory of the LORD appeared to all the people. (Lev 9:23)     Reflecting on my practice of the spiritual disciplines for my Spiritual Formation class at Earlham School of Religion, I recalled a very special “appearance” of the Divine in the context of worship.  I want to share this encounter as an act of praise and thanksgiving to God, and to develop an “image” of God that is grounded and…See More

Support our precious agents for Christ. Our future may depend on it.

           Being both a member of New York Yearly Meeting (Brooklyn) and a student at ESR, I was invited by the school to attend the 316th Session of our Yearly Meeting this summer at Silver Bay, NY.  While there, I provided a presence for ESR and had the opportunity to meet and engage with Friends, old and new.  When asked to submit an article about my experience for ESR’s blog, Learning and Leading, I said that I would.  Why has it taken me so long to respond?  Only recently did I discern the…See More

About Me
I am a student at Earlham School of Religion in Richmond, IN, having been called to ministry after living in NYC for 10 years. Most recently, I was employed as an Addiction Counselor with NYC Health & Hospitals Corp. I'm a member of Brooklyn Monthly Meeting (NYYM). Born and raised in Fort Wayne, IN within the United Methodist Church, my convincement to Quakerism occurred in 2009. In addition to learning and reading about Quakerism, I enjoy travel & camping, the musical and dramatic arts, playing the piano, and officiating marriages as an ordained, interfaith minister.

After Psalm 83: A song of those God has gathered.

O God, do not keep silent;

be not quiet, O God, be not still.

See how your children have strayed,

how your detractors ever increase.

Avoiding you, we diminish your own family;

silencing your own beloveds.

“See,” we say, “how Christianity has destroyed nations,

let the name of Christ be remembered no more.”

In corporate discernment we’ve erred;

We witness while avoiding the Word –

The house of New England and New…
