Last time I looked, there was an active discussion on the Conservative Friends page about acceptance of homosexuality.  There were at least 111 posts, making it one of the largest discussions ever on…Continue

Geoffrey Gilmore commented on Kevin Camp's blog post 'Addressing Meeting Discipline'
"I read recently about a school that has a rule that any student or teacher can call a "council meeting" at any time; the whole school stops what they're doing, and gets together to discuss the person's concern.  In the…"

Geoffrey Gilmore replied to Rupert Booth's discussion 'Universalism as a means to social harmony'
"Forrest, you did offer a judgement, or at least a speculation, about the religious involvement of his friends, and it seems that you were implying that they could not be deeply involved, because if they were, they would naturally tend to have a more…"

Geoffrey Gilmore replied to funnel101's discussion 'Buddhist and Quaker'
"You wrote:  "nor am I claiming that Jesus is the only way to salvation."  But remember that Christ himself claimed that "I am the way, the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father, if not through me." …"

Geoffrey Gilmore commented on Nikolas Southwell's blog post 'Where is the line drawn?'
"Drawing lines and saying that anyone should not be a member of the Society of Friends now seems to be a foreign concept to many, but it was not always so.  At one time, we shared common beliefs and discipline, and one who was not in unity with…"

Geoffrey Gilmore replied to Elzie Simons's discussion 'gays and the Ohio yearly meeting' in the group Sexuality/ LGBT
"I hope that disagreeing with someone and remaining mostly quiet about it is not seen as an attack."

Geoffrey Gilmore replied to Elzie Simons's discussion 'gays and the Ohio yearly meeting' in the group Sexuality/ LGBT
"Actually, I thought that the discussion of sexual issues is important, so I joined a group whose stated purpose is to discuss them, but didn't feel a need to start an argument or antagonize people in the group, so I haven't said a whole…"

Geoffrey Gilmore replied to Simon Marc's discussion 'Is Plain Plain? Or is Plain a Pain?' in the group Ohio Yearly Meeting
"As another who has never written to you, nor offered any support, I would offere the excuse that I am not aware of ever having heard of you until a few minutes ago when I started reading this discussion.  I used to wear a plain straw…"

Geoffrey Gilmore replied to funnel101's discussion 'Buddhist Quakers?'
"Part of the problem is that "Quaker" is a rather old religious term now, and the groups using it have diverged so much from each other as to be mutually unrecognizable. Originally, Quakers were monotheistic Christians who believed in the…"

Geoffrey Gilmore replied to Rosemary Gould's discussion 'What do you do in silent worship?'
"I don't think I've ever taught my mind to do anythingto reach stillness, or any other state during meeting for worship, nor do I think I'd try to. When I reach stillness, or just about any other time I sit down and try to listen to…"

Geoffrey Gilmore replied to DianeReynolds's discussion 'Quakers and MAry' in the group Christianity
"I agree that it is good to remember the women and men who have followed Jesus. But it's important, as you say, to not elevate them to a special status. Those who have been faithful in the past are examples of what we should be. If they were…"

Geoffrey Gilmore replied to DianeReynolds's discussion 'Quakers and MAry' in the group Christianity
"As for early Quakers, I recall reading one mention by Robert Barclay of the "Blessed Virgin Mary". Not sure where it was. He was educated by Catholics, so this may reflect it. I think it's important to regard Mary, or any saint from…"

Geoffrey Gilmore replied to Geoffrey Gilmore's discussion 'Why did the discussion disappear?'
"It looks like the only way to leave the discussion group without losing everything you've written and all the discussions you've started would be to copy everything in the discussion before leaving, then paste it into another file. What a…"

Adria Gulizia replied to Geoffrey Gilmore's discussion 'Why did the discussion disappear?'

Martin Kelley replied to Geoffrey Gilmore's discussion 'Why did the discussion disappear?'
"I'm afraid not. Ning's pretty serious about giving individuals the ability to take down their material. I think they consider it a privacy issue. I agree, but it occasionally causes this kind of loss."

Hi Geoffrey: I'm very happy to see you here. I believe we met too briefly about five years ago. I too would love to see more visitation among northeast Conservative Friends.
