Mary’s Example of Heart

For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious (II Corinthians 3:11).But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart (Luke 2:19)."The law woundeth, but the gospel healeth, and is glad tidings and good news.  The law condemneth: and the gospel delivereth.  And Moses accuseth: but Christ defendeth.  And Moses condemneth; but Christ pardoneth.  The law restraineth the hands: but the gospel restraineth the hands and the mind.  And the law…See More

As God promised our ancestors

Isaiah 60.4-5 Lift up your eyes and look around; they all gather together, they come to you; your sons shall come from far away, and your daughters shall be carried on their nurses’ arms. Then you shall see and be radiant; your heart shall thrill and rejoice, because the abundance of the sea shall be brought to you, the wealth of the nations shall come to you.Luke 21.5-11 When some were speaking about the temple, how it was adorned with beautiful stones and gifts dedicated to God, [Jesus] said,…See More

Profile Information

About Me
Introduction:
I'm David. I am an Evangelical Christian (I attend a United Free Church). I have been influenced by study of the Radical Reformation (Anabaptists) and early Quakerism. Along with study of Peace Churches and The Christian Peace Testimony as a whole. I hold a degree in Theology and a degree in Social Sciences. I like sharing wise quotes here from those of the past as well as useful links and my own Prayers, Poetry and Reflections. I run a blog called Plain Prayers (see link).

So, Welcome! Let's celebrate life, faith, hope, love, joy, peace and social justice together.

A little more about me:
I love my family and friends. I am married to my darling Sarah and father to baby Ezra. We like outings, walks and hanging out in coffee shops. I am a follower of Jesus whose gospel is peace. I dream of a better world and of the world to come.

A Statement of Faith:
(1) Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh, and apart from Him the true God can not fully be known, worshipped, or acknowledged. Jesus is fully revealed as the God who is love and whose gospel is peace.

 (2) Salvation is by faith in the atoning blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, apart from all human works and character. It is by Grace we are saved not by works, it is a gift from God, obtained through faith.

(3) It is the supreme obligation of every saved person to obey the Lord Jesus Christ. We will fail no doubt often in this for we are mere humans - but our aim should be holiness. The two golden rules are to love God and love each other (even to love enemies). This is the kind of active faith that can change the world for the better.

These three points are the pillars of my faith - the deity of Christ, salvation by faith in Him, obedience to His word.

Do you believe these three things and if not why not take it into consideration?

But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle (Hebrews 9:11).

And in the old covenant they had sanctuaries, and tabernacles, and temples, and the high priest was to light the candle and lamps in them.  But in the new covenant, Christ who ends the first priesthood, and the old covenant, and abolishes the sanctuary, tabernacle, and outward temple and lamps, enlightens every man's spirit that cometh into the world,…
