Chronicler replied to Paula Deming's discussion 'Ohio Yearly Meeting Sessions: Best Moment'
This evening I visited with some local Friends who attended Ohio YM this year. One of them took  a short video of Thomas, Noah, and me playing in the gym. I encouraged him to post it here. He is going to look into what he needs to do to post it.

Paula - thank thee for this posting. On the way home, Thomas and I discussed the special bond that Philadelphia and Ohio YMs have had historically. It was strained in the mid-20th century.   Thomas and I have become close colleagues - it is…

Since this message is almost a year old, I assume the order has been sent in.  If you have a list started, for "next order" please include my name.   Thanks Carl Williams

Chronicler replied to Javaughn Fernanders's discussion 'Quaker Youth looking for speakers to discuss "plainness"' in the group Plainness & Simplicity
Javaughn - I might be interested in attending. What is the recommended age range for a "Young Friend" these days? I don't know if I still qualify.

The FWCC directory sounds very interesting. I am interested in knowing which meeting in Ohio Yearly Meeting is semi-programmed.

I am interested in learning about the Leading that has promoted this wearing of the 'plain' gray hat. Having worn a broad brimmed black hat for many years as part of a church ordered dress and by personal conviction, I am interested to…

Hi Seth

I know this is very late in the day but it's taken me a while to really get connected to QQ and I've only just seen your comment.

I very much hope you can obtain large quantities of Strength in Weakness but I have nothing to do with distribution. The book is published by Altamira Press [just google them to find their website] and they hold all the stock and would be the people to negotiate a discount with. I don't even know how many they have left!

These are my own thoughts as well, Friend. 'Been thinking about Ed all afternoon. When I first met him, I felt I could never measure up, and that he would not have any interest in developing a friendship. I could not have been more wrong. Even as he got to know my quirks, weaknesses, foibles, he always seemed happy to see me, and we could always talk about the Lord, our lives and concerns, heart to heart.

"Catch thee later"

That's now my favorite phrase!

Daily Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 28 and Galatians 6

Deuteronomy 28 – If you obey the voice of God by observing the law, you will prosper.  Disobedience will bring destruction (28:45). The big word in this chapter, as in others, is if or “provided” or “so long as.”  This is the great condition that hangs over the redemption people.  The word does not disappear under the new covenant either as we sometimes like to think.  “You are my friends if you do as I command you.” (John 15:14).  The convincing power of the gospel is not in its syllogistic…See More

Where ministry meets livelihood

Listen to this post: http://www.turtleboxstories.com/audio/whereministrymeets.mp3 Yesterday was sandwiched between a traditional Bible study and a new women's group on astrology and archetypes. Could I have chosen anything more different? One is an ongoing study of Luke that my mother initiated in December with, mostly, retired women. I felt called to join because when else might I have the chance to do a Bible study…See More
