Jim - my understanding is that the label "quietism" was coined by Elisha Bates around 1832 as a way of ridiculing the previous generations of Friends. The Quietist period tends to be regarded differently by the different branches of Friends. Wilbur…

Hi Seth

I know this is very late in the day but it's taken me a while to really get connected to QQ and I've only just seen your comment.

I very much hope you can obtain large quantities of Strength in Weakness but I have nothing to do with distribution. The book is published by Altamira Press [just google them to find their website] and they hold all the stock and would be the people to negotiate a discount with. I don't even know how many they have left!

These are my own thoughts as well, Friend. 'Been thinking about Ed all afternoon. When I first met him, I felt I could never measure up, and that he would not have any interest in developing a friendship. I could not have been more wrong. Even as he got to know my quirks, weaknesses, foibles, he always seemed happy to see me, and we could always talk about the Lord, our lives and concerns, heart to heart.

I never got along with my mother-in-law. In addition to the typical unspoken war for the loyalty of her son, we had very different personalities. She tended to be very controlling, a trait that made her a wonderful housekeeper and hostess, but clash…

I like your thoughtful approach. I haven't prayed over it, but it occurs to me that as far as Hosea goes, there is a big difference between being a customer of a prostitute and marrying one. Buying a woman is using another human being. I believe it…
