Chel Avery commented on Raye's blog post 'Response to some explanations about Quakers, speaking during worship, and leadership'
Raye, I think I am the author of the blog that you are concerned about. Sorry you couldn't post a response -- someone named Tyler Hampton posted something similar to what you are pointing out. The blog consists of responses to questions people…

Chel Avery replied to Alan Paxton's discussion 'Which George Fox?' in the group Quaker Books
I took part in a study group where participants had different versions of the Journal. We coordinated our reading by periods of time, and I don't remember any difficulties that arose from those differences. The Nickalls edition includes a…

Chel Avery commented on Martin Kelley's video
There is plenty to argue about in the details of this interview, but I think Deborra captures the heart and spirit of Quakerism beautifully! I am delighted, because I suggested her name to the production team when they contacted Quaker Information…

Hi Chel: great to see you here. Let me know if you have any ideas about promoting Quakerinfo.org with this or if this could help supplement some of your material there. I'm very happy to see Quakerinfo's doing really well in Google searches as it's the best officially-sanctioned site out there.

Daily Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 28 and Galatians 6

Deuteronomy 28 – If you obey the voice of God by observing the law, you will prosper.  Disobedience will bring destruction (28:45). The big word in this chapter, as in others, is if or “provided” or “so long as.”  This is the great condition that hangs over the redemption people.  The word does not disappear under the new covenant either as we sometimes like to think.  “You are my friends if you do as I command you.” (John 15:14).  The convincing power of the gospel is not in its syllogistic…See More

Where ministry meets livelihood

Listen to this post: http://www.turtleboxstories.com/audio/whereministrymeets.mp3 Yesterday was sandwiched between a traditional Bible study and a new women's group on astrology and archetypes. Could I have chosen anything more different? One is an ongoing study of Luke that my mother initiated in December with, mostly, retired women. I felt called to join because when else might I have the chance to do a Bible study…See More
