Caroline Gulian replied to Jenna Caruthers's discussion 'Modesty and Massage' in the group Plainness & Simplicity
"If I may speak to you as a 'receiver' versus a 'giver' of massage.  I had a total right hip replacement in the 90's.  Because I was young, I recovered fairly well, but over the last 10 years the pain came back…"

Caroline Gulian replied to Barbara Smith's discussion 'Plain Dress: The New Bra Burning' in the group Plainness & Simplicity

Caroline Gulian replied to W. Geoffrey O. Black's discussion 'When does a Plain Friend take off his hat?' in the group Plainness & Simplicity
"Your post and another post in a different thread seem to have had the same issues.  Trying to reason with something that is beyond human understanding.  I cover my head because this is what the Lord wants me to do.  There is no…"

Caroline Gulian replied to Julie Courtwright Koscho's discussion 'How do I know when I should speak in Meeting?' in the group Liberal Quakers
"It is different for all, but I do understand why we are called Quakers.  A true message makes me tremble.  It starts in my fingers and spreads through my body.  It might be a message that I have no clue as to why I'm saying it,…"

Caroline Gulian replied to Barbara Smith's discussion 'Plain Dress: The New Bra Burning' in the group Plainness & Simplicity
"I guess one can say money is the vehicle.  Greed is the desire to have everything, money is the way to get it.  But it also comes back to the overload of sex trafficking and pornography.  The demand for sex tops the demand for…"

Caroline Gulian replied to Barbara Smith's discussion 'Plain Dress: The New Bra Burning' in the group Plainness & Simplicity
"Most men are not that way, what that man did to you is called 'passive aggressive'.  My exhusband was that way.  He'd insult me in front of other people, then humiliate me further by saying 'you can't take a…"

Caroline Gulian replied to Barbara Smith's discussion 'Plain Dress: The New Bra Burning' in the group Plainness & Simplicity
"Oversexualized is the symptom, not the problem, and I think this is why many people have a difficulty approaching how to solve this problem.  Money is where it's at.  Sex sells.  Not just in prostitution but in every aspect of…"

Caroline Gulian replied to Barbara Smith's discussion 'Plain Dress: The New Bra Burning' in the group Plainness & Simplicity
"I also believe that the 'almost' of sex advertising has cast a bad view on one very important thing.  A woman's breasts.  A wall-size advertisement of a woman in a string bikini is 'acceptable', yet some people are…"

Caroline Gulian commented on Jim Wilson's blog post 'Quaker Communion'
