Primitive Christianity Revived, Again
Hello all!
I hope this finds you in good heath and spirits!
I've been an on again, off again veggie head (vegetarian) for years now. One of the hardest things I find about being a vegetarian, especially when starting out, is recipes. When you've eaten a certain way you whole life it becomes hard to think about how you will eat without meat (or eggs and milk).
I was thinking it would be nice if we could do something like a recipe swap. Maybe share some of your favorite vegetarian/vegan recipes with us. I think it would be a great benefit for those of us who are just starting this path, who are tired of the same ol' dishes or who would enjoy making other people's creations!
I am going to post a few links to recipes I have used in the past and that I think are very helpful. I hope to read some of yours soon!
10 Vegetarian Lunches You Can Take To Work
Most of those are links to whole websites of vegetarian/vegan recipes and they are all lovely.
While not strictly a vegetarian search engine, I find http://www.foodily.com/ horribly helpful when trying to find recipes without meat. A friend of mine uses it to find recipes without gluten and another friend uses it to find recipes that don't have milk in them. Actually, if you or another you know has any sort of food allergies or intolerance that site is very helpful.

You can make a great soup with:
Better than Bullion, No Chicken Broth
Red Lentils, washed,
Coconut Butter (comes in a jar-add it at the end when everything has cooked so it just melts in)
Ginger
Garlic
Curry Powder
Potatoes
Carrots
Any vegetables that you get that week (we usually get some kind of veggie box, CSA or other)
Happy souping!

Permalink Reply by Mackenzie on 6th mo. 22, 2011 at 11:02am I'm a fan of VegWeb for finding recipes. Sometimes I search for ingredients that are in my kitchen already to find ways to use them.
Tempeh with spinach sauce on polenta wheels is a good recipe for impressing meat eaters, I find.
"Veganomicon" and "How it all Vegan" are both really good recipe books too.
