I've bought from Modestly Yours Swimwear (Tropical Sands style with extended sleeves and length).  You can specify all the measurements -- sleeve length, skirt length, inseam, etc. -- plus whether you want a tight or looser fit.  They are easy to swim in, dry fast and are comfortable to be active in.  I've gone swimming in pools and the sea/ocean, snorkeling, etc., and been quite happy with the suit.

I clip a bandanna on for a covering.

Now I'm intrigued. I will not hijack the thread, but I've been challenged to find modest exercise clothes.  I have longer exercise pants, but they are quite snug. What I'd love would be a  long exercise skort.

The Wholesomewear ones do seem to wear well. I wore a different style for seven years. The elastic in the waist in that one was eventually destroyed by my using it when I was pregnant :)

I really like the Wholesomewear extended one as well. That look pretty much like what I'd been looking for. Do they wear well, Isabel? I've always try to handwash when it comes to bathing suits and the like so they last longer, but even then they wear thin after too long. Nice find on the article, Paula, and thank you! Looks like I'll be saving up my pennies for next year.

Paula,

I've heard good things about Kosher Casual, although I've never bought from them.  There's also Modest Activewear, Spirit Skirts by Runningskirts (they also have "maternity fitness skirts"), a 27" exercise skort from Modest Apparel, and I'm thinking of ordering the Exerskirt from Mira Clothes. 

Just so we're not completely off-topic [grin], Mira's Exershirt on the same page can also be worn in the water.

Happy to help.  :-)

 

I like my suits, so I'm comfortable recommending that company.  I do sort of wring out the dress and legging hems when I first get out of the water to speed up the drying time.

There are a couple other companies that make similar suits, though for widely varying prices.  Meant to Be Modest has prices similar to that first site but not too many fabrics, and then there's Simply Modest, which is more expensive (but also has pre-made suits in addition to custom, plus a wide selection of fabrics).

Something else to consider is print vs solid colors.  I wear solids for my dresses, but since swimwear is more form-fitting than regular dresses, it may be that prints on it help divert the eye....

I have to say: I admire all of ye lady Friends, for thy modesty in this discussion of swimming. If more people practiced this, the beaches wouldn't be as bad a place to visit. To go to these areas in warm seasons is nearly impossible to do, too much flashing of skin. Exposure. Immodest. (Also, it can cause various skin cancers.) So, I'm glad to know, that ye are doing differently—modestly swimming. Good for ye all. . .

Again, for myself, if there was a body of fresh water, say a private pool nearby; this ole man would have dove in with my suspenders (braces), trousers, shirt, minus hat, shoes, and glasses! On that 106°f day, where the heat index was 109, I would have been on the bottom of the twenty foot area like a frog!! :)

I'd still look the same. . . Only soggy and soaking wet and much cooler! A dripping disheveled beard and hair, clothing all stuck to me like plaster, but modest.  (May not improve our visage much, but the temperatures would have reduced though!)

I've been using swim pants and a rash guard for about five years now.  Back then there were not many choices out there.  Imagine my surprise when Huffington Post posted a slide show on modest swimwear.  Some were just my style, others frumpy.  Hey, to each one's own, I say.  

I was disheartened by some of the comments from some readers from folks who just do not get it that many women, such as myself, that we are called to wear modest swimwear, or simply trying to protect our skin or both.  I've even had multiple incidents at a local waterpark in NJ of management threatening to kick me out of the park for wearing cyclists pants/shirts instead of what they deemed as swimwear.  They did not care that I laminated a picture of my swimsuit and showed where I purchased it from.

But I ramble...Anyhow, I will definitely check out the other vendors now that the summer is over.  Glad to see that modest/sun protective swimwear is gaining traction!
