I love salwar kameez! I think they are the most practical garment known to womankind! 8-) And they can be made in anything from a cotton that can be tossed in the wash after gardening, to wools, silks, ANYTHING! Plain, patterned, embroidered . . .
Permalink Reply by Karen Mercer on 1st mo. 12, 2012 at 3:47pm It's also very iteresting to see pictures of the first "bloomers" invented by Amelia Bloomer and how much they resemble salwar kameez...the Victorian Age was the age that first advocated exercise for women and bloomers allowed hemlines to go up enough for decent freedom of movement when required, without compromising modesty. I wonder if she was influenced by the pictures being sent back from India at the time?
