Primitive Christianity Revived, Again

I am a Master Gardener. Most State Universities Extension Services are moving from chemical advise to "organic" methods. An old stand-by, Motherearth News and Organic Gardening websites are good resources.

Hello Jim,

Old Haverford Monthly Meeting has turned the back lot of its burial ground over for Community Gardening and we've had Master Gardeners in from Penn State to advise people on organic methods, which we require.  We've recently added a hand pumped artisan well for our gardeners.  We now have 30 plots actively cultivated, and expect to add more next year.

I'm replying to your thread to point out that this is probably something many meetings can do if you have space somewhere on your grounds.  It helps to create a resilient community centered on the meeting, providing local food for families that otherwise might not be able to easily obtain it.  It also provides an opportunity for skill sharing between experienced gardeners (and even Master Gardeners like Jim) and those who are just starting a first garden.  It is an opportunity to introduce folks to the idea of permaculture, and then helping folks to understand how (by analogy) most of our modern, globalized, just-in-time, economic life is based on a monoculture approach that is extremely fragile, and just not sustainable.
