About the Blog Carnival
When was the first time you walked into a meetinghouse? If you were lucky enough to grow up in Friends, share some of your earliest memories or a moment where something happened and you felt a renewed sense of ownership in the label "Friend"?

My first meeting was in February 2002, and I had a vision, which was very unusual for me. I left the meeting a bit dumb-founded, but feeling a sense of peace. I also found the Kingdom of Heaven is within, where that still, small voice is waiting to be found and recognized. It was, in short, a transformative experience.

Tonight while my students shared pieces of their spiritual journeys, several of them remarked that they were "almost" birthright Quakers. Their parents had joined Quaker communities shortly after they were born, or they were adopted and brought into Quaker families. I've been musing tonight over what it means to be 'birthright.' Maybe I'll find time to write about it soon.
