Hi all--who is the keeper of the above "Bay Area links" section? There are a couple of things I'd like to clarify.
David L. Hoffman Comment by David L. Hoffman on 2nd mo. 15, 2010 at 9:01am
Dear friends,

Is there a place on line where I can find Quaker spiritual meditations?

A valued colleague is creating a list of links to Christian mystical meditations. She asked me if I knew where any Quaker meditations are posted on line.

I googled Pat (and "Patricia") Loring, but found only links where one can purchase hard copies of her books. I did find some relevant Pendle Hill pamphlets in PDF format (from the 1940s and '50s).

Any other leads would be appreciated.

You can let me know at dhoffmanlaw@earthlink.net, or correspond directly with my friend Ruah Bull at ruahb@sbcglobal.net. If you write directly to Ruah, you might want to mention my name.

Thanks and blessings:
David Hoffman

The Christian Friends Conference does't have a website. Send me your contact information at charles@innerlightbooks.com and I'll pass it on to the proper person.

Is there a way of contacting the Christian Friends Conference? I haven't found an online site, and at quakerinfo the link to an email address doesn't seem to work; at least I haven't been able to use it.

Thanks,

Jim

Hi Charles: I'll join this group myself, as it's one of the better test groups to see how local organizing is going. Every couple of months I get inquiries from seekers in the Bay Area. I always tell them about the Christian Friends Conference and the other bits and pieces of area events I've heard about. As people make suggestions in the discussion & comment wall I'll start adding to the "Bay Area Links" section.

Can you also add the CFC meetings to the events listings? Follow the "Gathering" botton at the top of any page. We'll tag events as "bayarea" and "cfc". Right now those links won't take you anywhere, but my hope is that they'll soon be a handy calendar of events in the Bay Area. Then when someone asks me what's happening three thousand miles away I'll be able to look this up and point them here.

Friends: I'm glad Martin Kelley has used his technical skills to set up this site. I hope this will enable convergent Friends in the Bay Area to be more involved with one another. I want to remind Friends that there is a regular quarterly gathering of the Christian Friends Conference where we have an extended Meeting for Worship, Bible reading in the manner of Conservative Friends, reading from early Friends' writings and presentations and discussions on various subjects. the next gathering is on March 20, 2010 at Berkeley Friends Church. I will put out a notice closer to the date.

Daily Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 28 and Galatians 6

Deuteronomy 28 – If you obey the voice of God by observing the law, you will prosper.  Disobedience will bring destruction (28:45). The big word in this chapter, as in others, is if or “provided” or “so long as.”  This is the great condition that hangs over the redemption people.  The word does not disappear under the new covenant either as we sometimes like to think.  “You are my friends if you do as I command you.” (John 15:14).  The convincing power of the gospel is not in its syllogistic…See More

Where ministry meets livelihood

Listen to this post: http://www.turtleboxstories.com/audio/whereministrymeets.mp3 Yesterday was sandwiched between a traditional Bible study and a new women's group on astrology and archetypes. Could I have chosen anything more different? One is an ongoing study of Luke that my mother initiated in December with, mostly, retired women. I felt called to join because when else might I have the chance to do a Bible study…See More
