I'm using science fiction to forecast what a Meeting might come to, by way of Faith & Practice.

The regional F&P is open source on Github however our meeting maintains a fork, its modifications possibly to be merged with Regional but that's not a given.  We've modified our Social Contracts chapter.

Social Contracts

What the Meeting agrees to take under its care, regarding Social Contracts, is a matter for Clearness Committees arranged by Oversight, which gets back the summary report and proposal for Business Meeting, about whether or not the Meeting should assume a caretaker responsibility, as requested of our Meeting by parties to the contract.

Whether the language includes "marriage" or not, may have of some bearing on how Oversight presents the minute.  Some Friends design a family business relationship more in accordance with business law, with partner adults, wills, child custody plans and so on.  Such alternatives to the nuclear family have precedent in Oregon especially among pre Europeans.

Quakerism is in principle accepting of non-Protestant family business patterns, however as a matter of expediency, Social Contracts need not stipulate "marriage" in the contract language, thereby sparing our Meeting the challenge of trying to gain new rights for people under the jurisdiction of Domestic Relations.

We take a lot of responsibility for Social Contracts we clear and approve through the Good Order of Friends, such as by providing ongoing clearness and support committees for the parties involved, if and when these are requested.  We may also celebrate anniversaries.

Do parties to a Social Contract need to be members of the Meeting?  Not necessarily (see page 213).
