Event Description

Quaker Studies is excited to be offering Reading Early Friends, a series of three online courses that offer a chance to listen to and read writings by significant early Quakers. Each course includes audio files of the readings, which should be a great help for those of us not steeped in 17th century prose!

Here's what Frederick says about his course, "Francis Howgill, one of the ‘Valiant Sixty,’ wrote a moving description, reprinted in many YM's books of Faith & Practice, of how his group of Seekers found the Light... Beautiful, but he wrote more. And the apocalyptic and utopian elements have been edited out since 1676! Find out what Howgill really had to say about how to enter the new age” …  For more details and to register go to  http://www.bhfh.org/qsp/qspREF_Howgill.html

Frederick plans a look at Howgill's description of how he was convinced and a chance for us to try our hand at describing our convincement as well as a look at what got cut from Howgill's writing (and perhaps why).
